Oh yay, I'm glad you liked Mura's! I think I ended up reading it three or four times and crying through several readings. I mostly ignored the ones by white people; some were interesting (I particularly liked the one early on that looked at both class and race via the member of the "Afrostocracy" and the first-gen Italian-American college grad). But some others just made me tear my hair out thanks to the exotification (probably Pam Houston's, though I don't remember the author anymore... it was the one talking about feeling so glad to be accepted by black people because they were so wonderful and lovely and the embodiment of everything good).
