Well that's the thing, though, right? Living is all about choices based on your priorities. If cash output is the be-all and end-all for you, then fast food is fine, which is apparently where that book's authors sit on the spectrum. I know a couple of vegans who will wear plastic shoes made in China rather than anything with animal products. Me, I prefer not to wear plastic OR made in China (so it's probably just as well that I'm not vegan) for environmental and humanitarian reasons, respectively.
