Well, she was talking about how activists face trauma in what they do (either what happens to them, like getting arrested & subject to police brutality, or what they witness), & how we often face trauma in our everyday lives (sexual violence, etc.). And she talked about how women activists can face special risks, like sexual assault from cops, etc. That's the context for the FTM bit--I don't think she's right in what she says, but it does flow logically from the rest of what she talks about.
I do think the book is otherwise superb, & talks about stuff I haven't really seen addressed a lot elsewhere.
